Fruit Fly

Scientific name: Mediterranean Fruit Fly (Ceratitis capitata) and Queensland Fruit Fly (Bactrocera tryoni).

Description

Like many insects, fruit flies have four life stages – egg, larvae, pupae and adult. Male fruit flies require protein to become sexually active and females need constant protein to continue to lay eggs.

  • Watch for puncture wounds
  • Check for secondary infections
  • Keep an eye out for maggots in fruit

Cera Trap® works on both genders, but targets females and breaks the breeding cycle.
